Impaired Professionals Treatment

Skilled and licensed professionals are especially vulnerable to stress and addiction due to the demands of their occupations.  Attorneys, therapists, medical professionals, veterinarians, business executives, and public safety workers are just some of the professionals that may find themselves misusing substances as a way to cope with workplace stress and/or traumatic events. Due to the complexities of their work, intervention requires a specialized approach from skilled therapists trained in addiction treatment.

Professionals may shy away from seeking help for fear of professional consequences or confidentiality being breached.  Both the staff and professional treatment team at Therapeutic Oasis abide by the strictest standards of confidentiality.  Our staff wholeheartedly believes that early intervention provides the best outcomes.  We encourage all professionals to seek help at the first signs of impairment or burnout.  Indicators may include:

  • Mood swings
  • Loss of enthusiasm
  • Loss of energy, sleeplessness, insomnia
  • Negative attitude
  • Changes in work habits, including underperformance
  • Missed appointments or meetings
  • Complaints from staff, patient, and/or family members
  • Personal hygiene changes
  • Depression, agitation, forgetfulness
  • Physical dependence on chemical substances and/or alcohol
