Dr. Lewis Jones is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with both Masters and Doctorate degrees from Nova Southeastern University. He believes that success in treatment hinges largely on the fit between client and therapist. As such, Dr. Jones strives to meet each and every client on their path, not his. He prides himself on collaborative work; client and therapist working in tandem to both create and achieve therapeutic goals.
Dr. Jones’ work centers primarily on Cognitive Behavior Therapy, due in great part to its adherence to scientifically-based treatment guidelines, but he often incorporates other approaches to fit each client’s specific needs. As such, he has specialized training in varying exposure techniques and mindfulness skills that make him uniquely qualified as a psychologist. Dr. Jones emphasizes skill-building and homework as part of each therapeutic treatment plan, making his work more concrete than traditional ‘talk-therapy’.
His ability to connect with his clients comes from his diverse experience. Dr. Jones has worked in the country’s top healthcare companies, as well as in university counseling centers, community mental health, inpatient psychiatric units and outpatient clinics. His primary specialties include Anxiety disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Eating Disorders. Dr. Jones has also presented both nationally and locally on these topics.
Dr. Jones is also a YogaFit certified yoga teacher and enjoys bringing mindful, body-focused concepts into the therapy room. In fact, his doctoral thesis focused on mindful-movement practices and their impact on mental health. He believes that mental health is not restricted just to the mind, but expands to the person as a whole. Dr. Jones is very excited to be a part of The Therapeutic Oasis and continuing their mission to bring peace, wellness and effective treatment to the local community.
